 Offer Profile

For over three-quarters of a century, Twin Disc has designed, built and distributed a family of critical performance products that influence the development and prosperity of our world. They are installed in the drivelines and power trains of off-highway equipment. They manage and control the horsepower generated by electric motors and internal combustion engines.

 Product Abstract

MARINE TRANSMISSIONS
Pleasure Craft Light Duty Intermediate Duty Medium Duty Continuous Duty
Up to 500 hours/year,low load factor usage planing hulls vessels where typical full engine throttle operation is less than 10% of total time. The balance of operation of 80% of full engine throttle or less. Marine transmissions for use in long range pleasure cruisers, sportfish charter boats/patrol boats do not qualify for Pleasure Craft Service. Relatively low hour usage (less than 1500 hours/year) where full throttle operation is 2 hours out of 12. Typical applications include planing hull vessels such as fire boats, sportfish charter boats and patrol/customs boats. This rating is also applicable to some bow and stern thruster applications. Hour usage of up to 2000 hours/year (for models MG-5114 and smaller) and up to 3000 hours/year (for models MG-5141 and larger) with 50% of the operating time at full engine rating.
Typical applications include planing hull vessels such as ferries, fishing boats, some crew boats and also some displacement hull yachts as well as some bow and stern thruster applications.
Hour usage of up to 4000 hours/year with up to 80% of operating time at full engine power. This duty classification is for usage where some variations in engine speed/power occur as part of normal vessel operation.
Typical vessels include mid-water trawlers, crew/supply boats, ferries and some inland water tow boats.
For use in continuous operation with little or no variation in engine speed/power settings. Typical vessels include fishing trawlers, tow/tug boats and ocean going vessels.

PROPULSION

Waterjets Arneson Surface Drives

Twin Disc manufactures a line of eleven waterjets from 300 to 2,000 horsepower. They are transom mounted and readily installed in existing hull configurations, without having to cut the hull at a critical point of flotation. This assures the integrity of the hull in the event of grounding. The modular design simplifies manufacture and in-water repairs without costly slipping or drydock.

  • Transom mounted for simple, precise and low-cost installation with aluminum, steel or fiberglass hulls.
  • Transom mounting system allows engines to be mounted further aft than through-hull water jets.
  • Mold insert supplied provides a strong and leak-proof mounting seal.
  • Hull integrity is not compromised as with through-hull waterjets which require large holes in the bottom of the vessel and transom.
  • Steering system is fully sealed, requiring minimal force to operate. Discharge flow turbulence is minimized, channeling 100% of the available thrust into steering effort.
  • High thrust reverse bucket provides full thrust at any steering angle for excellent maneuverability, zero speed steering and power braking.

For those seeking the ultimate in speed, maneuverability, efficiency and dependability, nothing matches the Arneson Surface Drive concept.

  • Arneson Drives are among the most efficient marine propulsion systems in the world. Their surface-piercing propeller design reduces underwater drag by 50% compared to conventional submerged propeller drive systems. The only surfaces to contact the water are the propeller blades and a protective skeg. This results in higher overall speed, quicker acceleration and a better payload to power ratio.

  • Fifty percent less drag significantly improves fuel economy while lowering operating costs. And, as speed increases, so do performance and operating benefits.

  • Thousands of these drives have been operating successfully for many years on pleasure craft, commercial and military applications throughout the world. So today you have proven performance and reliability in Arneson Surface Drives available for vessels from 30 to 200 feet.
